PAN IIT Alumni Association of Southern California (IITAA SoCal) is an association of alumni & professionals associated with the all the seven Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), India who are based in Southern California. We are located in Los Angeles, California with our membership spanning all the way from San Diego to Santa Barbara.

Contributions of IIT alumni to economy, society, research etc are tremendous. Our members are accomplished entrepreneurs, professionals from various industries, renowned academicians as well as graduate students at Caltech, USC, Loyola Marymount, UCI, UCLA, UCR, UCSD, UC Davis, and UC Santa Barbara among others.

Our chapter aims in furthering the mission of Pan IIT Organization of USA by bringing the alumni of the 7 IIT s together. We strive to provide a substantial platform for communication, collaboration and mentorship to its members through various social and professional events.

Founded in 2005, PAN IIT Alumni Association of Southern California has brought IIT alumni in southern California region closer.  We are always on the lookout for partnership with dynamic individuals and organizations to further our cause.

Smita Goel Bagla, President                    

  • Graduated from IIT Kanpur in Mathematics, 1984
  • Graduated from IIT Roorkee in Computer Science, 1986

Smita Bagla is Sr. Architect/ Program Manager at United Health Group, the second largest medical insurance company in the country. She has previously held similar positions at Amgen, Inc, and Alpha Therapeutics. From 1991 to 2000, Smita was a software product entrepreneur in Healthcare arena. She started her career as an AI specialist at UCLA Medical Center. Smita has been very active in the IIT Kanpur and IIT Roorkee Alumni association.  In her current role as President of Pan-IIT Chapter in Southern California, she has led annual picnics for Pan-IIT and organized professional panels. Two of these events were in collaboration with Caltech. Smita is also a joint recipient of community leadership award for West Coast in 2001.

Aniraban Das, Secretary

  • Graduated from IITKGP in Physics, 2006

Anirban completed his Integrated M.Sc. in Physics from IITKGP and joined the Physics PhD program at USC from Fall 2006. He is presently working in the group of Professor Stephan Haas on Entanglement, Fidelity and Quantum Phase transitions.

Sameera Poduri, Events Chair

  • Graduated from IITB in Mechanical Engineering, 2002
Sameera is an IITB 2002 graduate from the Mechanical Engineering department. She completed her Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Southern California (USC) in 2008 and is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at USC. Her primary interests are in Robotics, Wireless Networks and Machine Learning.
